  • B.C. licensing requires a 1:4 ratio for infants and toddlers, and a 1:8 ratio for 3 to 5 years. . At NANA, our infant and toddler programs will run at a 1:3 ratio, and the 3-5 program will run at a 1:6 ratio whenever possible. With these ratios, we ensure that the needs of all children in our care are adequately seen and heard as they deserve to be.

  • According to our gradual entry schedule, your child’s first day will be two hours as they work on getting settled into the program. What a child needs on their first day will vary according to their enrolled program. Check with the director upon registering for specific program needs.

  • With the HiMama app, families can communicate with their child’s classroom teachers via messaging at any time throughout their child’s day. Alternatively, teachers can be reached via phone by calling the NANA cente.

  • At NANA, we pride ourselves on having extra support in each classroom to provide sufficient care and attention to each child. However, we know that accidents happen, and that bumps and bruises are a common outcome of explorative play as a child. If a child becomes injured in a way that affects their ability to participate in the program, we will immediately call the family to inform them of the incident and pick up their child. Every classroom at NANA is equipped with teachers who are certified in Emergency Child Care First Aid.

  • Once enrolled at NANA, families will gain access to the HiMama app and receive daily updates regarding the details of their child’s day. Specific details vary according to the program in which your child is enrolled.

  • Our teachers will work alongside families to support toilet training. Children should be toilet trained before moving to the JK3/4 program.

  • Teachers and children go outside rain, snow, or shine, so it is essential that every child has adequate weather-appropriate gear. In the colder months, children play outside once a day for 30 minutes – 1 hour. Throughout the warmer months, we aim to spend as much time outdoors as possible, combining both learning and play in an outdoor setting. If weather conditions provide an unsafe or unreasonable environment for play, the teachers will offer indoor movement activities.

  • NANA hosts a variety of special events and field trips throughout the year. Families are invited to join special events, and on certain field trips, their attendance is required.
